Oxygen Series

Trees are vital to us and the ecosystem.  They produce oxygen and store carbon helping reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.  With the latest IPCC report, I was inspired to create this series of pen drawings with watercolour to highlight the impact humanity is having on their local immediate environment.  I believe the local landscape is just as important as the global one.  If we could all help and support the environment on a local scale that would also support the environment on a global scale.

This series of artwork has been created purely from my imagination as I have studied, researched and drawn trees many times, from the local landscape to my art studio based in Sussex.  These drawings of trees are in pen and then some have been highlighted with watercolour paint to show the progress of climate change on the local environment.  I have shown this both structurally and using colours in the painting that are deliberately emotive.  Green indicating health of the environment and red and black showing vulnerability and the impact of climate change.
