About this painting:
This painting is part of my Tree of Life series, which delves into the vital role trees play not only in supporting local ecosystems—providing habitat for animals, birds, and insects—but also in sustaining humanity. The branches and flowers of the trees envelop and protect numerous figures within the painting, symbolising how nature nurtures humanity by providing essential resources like food and oxygen.
We are deeply dependent on nature, yet paradoxically, we often act in ways that harm it. Each tree is invaluable, as it underpins the existence of both nature and humanity. This interconnectedness highlights that humanity is an integral part of nature, sharing its fragility with all other species.
In this piece, I have used tonal colours to emphasise that trees, flowers, and people are of equal importance, reflecting their shared status within the natural world. None is more significant than the other; all are integral parts of the same ecosystem. |
