Under the Daisy #2 is the second oil painting in a sub series as part of the Exploring Miniscule Series. Under the Daisy both 1 & 2 are about the fragile life that is happening in a tiny patch of grass beneath a Daisy. The daisy is an Ox-Eye Daisy so slightly larger than the small daisies (Bellis Perennis) we find in the lawn. The viewer is taking an insect perspective of the scene where we find clover and grass growing with buttercups camouflaged into the horizon. I want to highlight the importance of this miniature world, where species of flower, insect and mammal all rely upon each other in this delicate ecosystem. I deliberately choose everyday flowers that we can find in our lawns to show that this is what keen gardeners mow away every week, but is in fact vital pollen to so many species.
Under the Daisy #1 has been sold and is now in a public collection in ELNNDI Museum, China, GuangZhou.
