About this painting:
Mother Nature #2 as with the other paintings in this series was inspired and developed from my Secrets of Nature series. A body of work that explores the delicate, often overlooked relationship between humanity and the natural world. In this painting, the figure of Mother Nature is not separate from the flower, she is the flower, Her form is infused with the petals of a magnolia, chosen for its exquisite beauty and vulnerability.
Each year, I wait for my magnolia tree to bloom. But its flowering is precarious, caught between the promise of spring and the threat of late frosts. Increasingly, the tree is deceived by unseasonably warm winters, blooming too early, only to have its blossoms destroyed overnight. This quiet tragedy is a symptom of climate change, and it mirrors the fragility of life itself.
In Mother Nature #2, the human form is a deliberate choice. We are the ones driving climate change, and we are the ones most at risk. The painting is a reminder that the damage we inflict on nature is damage we inflict on ourselves. The fading bloom, the vulnerable figure, the quiet tension in the composition, all speak to the urgency of our time.
This artwork is not just a visual experience, it is a call to care.
By bringing Mother Nature #2 into your space, you are choosing to honour the fragility of life, the beauty of seasonal rhythms, and the need for conscious living. It is a piece for those who feel the weight of environmental change and want to surround themselves with reminders of what is worth protecting.
Let this painting be your daily reflection. A symbol of reverence. A reminder to act. |
