mother nature oil painting

Mother Nature #2

Oil on Board, 50 x 50 cms, 19.5 x 19.5 inches

'Mother Nature #2' is part of the 'Secrets of Nature' series, where I try and highlight the importance of mankind living with and being a part of nature.

'Mother Nature' in this painting is part of the flower and infused with it.   The flower is a magnolia deliberately chosen for its fragility.  I eagerly wait for my tree to flower each year, but it flowers in between hard frosts, and a frost could kill all the flowers instantly if the tree flowers at the wrong time.  More and more the tree gets it wrong, the unseasonably warm weather that arrives in February and sometimes January, fools the tree into thinking it is safe to flower early.  Another consequence of climate change.

'Mother Nature' is depicted in human form for a deliberate reason.  We are causing climate change that is harming the flora and fauna, but ultimately climate change is harming the human race.

We need to care of the climate and environment urgently not only to save nature as we know it but ourselves as well.
