The Spirit of Mother Nature in My Art
The female figure is a recurring presence in my work, an embodiment of Mother Nature herself. In pre-Christian societies, nature was revered as divine, a force both nurturing and powerful, deserving of awe and respect. Today, that sacred connection has been fractured. Nature is no longer a deity, instead it has become a commodity exploited, overlooked, and undervalued.
My art seeks to restore that lost reverence. I don’t believe we need to return to fearing nature, but we must learn to respect it again. Every small action we take, mowing a lawn, paving a driveway, removing a tree has consequences. These choices strip away habitats, reduce biodiversity, and disrupt delicate ecosystems. The clover, buttercups, daisies, and tiny wildflowers like scarlet pimpernel and germander speedwell, each one plays a role in sustaining life. When we silence them, we silence the bees and the birds.
Through my artwork, I invite you to pause and reflect. To see the face of Mother Nature not as something separate, but as a mirror of ourselves. Her human form in my paintings is a reminder, we are not apart from nature, we are part of it. When we harm her, we harm ourselves.
My work is more than visual, it’s a call to live more consciously, to reconnect with the landscapes around us, and to rediscover the sacred in the everyday. It fills a need many of us feel but struggle to name, the longing for harmony, for meaning, for belonging in a world that often feels disconnected.
Let my art be your reminder. Your reconnection. Your reverence.
