Sussexscape #8Oil on Board, 28 x 28 cms, 11 x 11 inchesAs an artist based in Sussex, UK I have a variety of stunning landscapes to inspire me. I have a partial photographic memory so many landscapes and seascapes are painted, in oil from memory the following day or week in the studio. I see them either walking or driving about the county. This seascape was inspired as I drove over the Devils Dyke because I can look out to sea and can see the beautiful colours in the sky at dusk which are so often luminous apricot and magenta. These colours and landscapes inspire much of my art, even if my artwork isn’t specifically of a landscape the background will be based upon what I see around me.
