Morning Mist
Oil on Board
50 x 50 cms, 19.5 x 19.5 inches
As an artist Sussex is a beautiful county in Britain to live in. Every year we are surrounded blue carpeted woodlands that are covered in bluebells most of which are indigenous. Morning Mist is inspired by the local Bluebell wood that we walk through each year. Most of my landscape paintings are not based upon a specific place instead because I have a partial photographic memory they are based upon the place, my experience and my memory of it. This too is the case with the oil painting ‘Morning Mist’.
In this artwork I particularly wanted to capture the morning mist that hangs in the wood on a cool morning. When we stand in a bluebell wood we are overwhelmed with the carpet of blue, which is why I wanted to show single bluebell and butterfly in focus in the foreground.
