A Study of Stripes and Curves
Oil on Board

11 x 14.5 inches
All my inspiration is from the beautiful landscape around me. I love to walk across the fields and see the rolling hills towards the South Downs in Sussex. This oil painting “A Study of Stripes and Curves” is inspired by a cut wheat field and the stripes that it creates disappearing towards the horizon. The series of curves creating the landscape that is so indicative of Sussex. The plain blue sky is in contrast against the geometry of the warm colours of the harvested fields.
All my landscape paintings are created from memory from my walks. Each thin layer of oil paint is carefully built up to create colours that luminesce on the board. |
