Reclaiming Nature #4
Watercolour on Paper,
21 x 15 cms, 10.5 x 6 inches
This painting is part of the ‘Reclaiming Nature’ series, which is about how nature impinges upon humanity and reclaims what has been taken. Although my subjects are from my imagination, they are metaphors for every tiny plant that pushes its way up between the cracks in the pavement.
In Reclaiming Nature #4, trees have overtaken the arches within a church, intertwining themselves so that you are unsure where the architecture ends, and nature begins. There are small hints amongst the trunks and branches to the original form of the arches. At the furthest arch, there is light and hope as nature brings the world back into balance.
This mythical painting is perfect escapism from the turmoil of our daily lives, where you can sit and immerse yourself in the idea of hope and comfort from nature.
