Sunflower - Study in Oil

I am a full-time practising artist, and I have a creative process that takes a long time.  I study from observation in my sketchbook, drawing or painting from life in either pencil, pen, charcoal or watercolour.  I also document the flowers I work from with photography, often I have grown these from seed or found them in the local landscape in Sussex, UK where I live and work.  I then develop these observational artworks into a final composition for my oil painting. 

This painting is an oil study for the larger painting because I wanted to experiment with colours and brush marks before I embarked upon the final piece of art.
