This Green Man is the centre of the coloured pencil drawing, yet his stance makes him appear to have grown from the ground, just as the trees have. The Green Man is the pagan deity for spring and rebirth of the seasons, he is perceived as nature, just as Mother Nature is. The Green Man has a human form and humanity were depicted as nature in pre-Christian beliefs. This is understandable, because the human population is indeed, nature, and just another species within the ecosystem. Yet modern definition of nature puts humanity apart or above nature, instead we are a part of nature, and equal to any other part of it. If we perceived ourselves in this way, and realised the vulnerability of our species, I believe we would do more to save the environment around us from the harm that humanity has caused.
