A bouquet of nature but without flowers. Everyone likes flowers, they are bright, colourful and showy and cheer us up, with their beautiful shapes. Yet, the unseen plants, the hidden weeds that make up the undergrowth are just as, if not more, important than a rose. This image is made up with lots of insignificant greenery and has been combined with hands and feet. This odd combination is meant to be deliberately strange, whilst looking on the surface, beautiful. Just as we think of insignificant undergrowth and weeds as not as important, we too think that humanity is above and not a part of nature, and both these statements couldn't be further from the truth. Humanity, weeds, animals, flowers and insects are not only all nature, but from nature's viewpoint, all equal. Each species is just as vulnerable as each other. I wanted to capture delicacy, beauty and vulnerability within this painting/drawing as a variety of elements from nature have been gathered together on an equal stage. I say painting/drawing because I think it is both, it has been created with watercolour paints, but using drawing techniques.
