In this pencil drawing, two figures are intertwined with the curling leaves within leaf litter. The decay of animals and plants is incredibly important to all of our wellbeing and for our ecosystem. Rich soil produces good crops, which we in turn, rely upon for food and materials. This natural flow of energy from decay to the living is being disrupted with modern farming practices and the excessive use of fertilisers and pesticides.
This composition shows that humanity is a part and reliant upon all the cycles of nature and a decaying leaf is just as purposeful as a growing one and all these natural cycles within nature should be appreciated and protected.
